What is cleaned?

Most clients are residences. However, housekeepers also provide commercial office cleaning.

The housekeepers have experience and know-how of what to "normally" clean, but, more importantly, they work to your list of priorities and requirements.

Housekeepers have also helped with home organization, packing and unpacking boxes, moving boxes in the home, holiday decorating in the home, taking down and packing decorations, polishing silver and brass, shopping with elders and even light gardening.

We ask that you prepare a list with any special items you specifically want done or areas you feel are particularly important.

Dana's Housecleaning has experience placing housekeepers in homes, condos and apartments of any size. When scheduling your cleaning, we ask for the approximate size of the home (in square feet), the number of bedrooms and baths and whether you have any pets. This will help determine the extent of cleaning required and the best combination of housekeepers and hours to complete the job.

The housekeeper's goal is your complete satisfaction with the cleaning.


What is not cleaned?

Our housekeepers are prepared for most tasks except:

  • Cleaning animal feces, urine or cat litter boxes
  • Tasks that require a step stool or ladder greater than four feet tall
  • Unsanitary items such as rotting food, rodents, insect infestations or human waste
  • Use of noxious oven cleaners
  • Exposure to items that would risk health, including unruly or dangerous animals
  • Unsafe places, positions or situations which may threaten safety

Frequency of Service

  • Regular – This is the most common and is weekly or biweekly (every other week).
  • Occasional – This is a one-time cleaning
    Examples: spring cleaning, special cleaning for a party, moving into a new home, holiday cleaning
  • We are flexible and do our best to accommodate your needs
  • If your schedule allows, availability is better on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • Housekeepers generally work within two time periods; four hours in the morning (8-12); four hours in the afternoon (1-5).
  • We normally do not schedule appointments for Saturday or Sunday. However, arrangements are possible.
  • If there is a need to reschedule, we do our best to fit your next appointment within the availability of your housekeeper's schedule.
  • Holidays are very busy. Book appointments early.

  • Housekeepers are independent contractors. We interview and evaluate each potential contractor, accepting only experienced, trustworthy, dependable and friendly candidates.
  • Each housekeeper undergoes a nationwide criminal background check.
  • If you are satisfied with the housekeeper and want service on a regular basis, please call our office to ensure availability.
  • If, at any time, you are unsatisfied with your housekeeper, we can provide a replacement.

Move-out / Move-in

Dana's Housecleaning frequently schedules housekeepers for housecleaning when

  • Preparing your home for sale
  • Keeping your home in "showcase" condition for realtors
  • Preparing for an open house
  • Cleaning an empty house for the final move-out
  • Ensuring a clean, fresh start in your new home

Cleaning an empty house includes closets, walls, inside cabinets and drawers, all floor areas, inside kitchen appliances not normally accessible, all windows, porches, garages, etc.

Housekeepers also clean dust, debris and dirt following construction or remodeling.


Why your supplies?

Our clients generally prefer use of their cleaning supplies and equipment. Using your vacuum cleaner, mop, broom, rags or dusters does not introduce new allergens, animal dander, dirt, bacteria and germs from other homes. It also does not introduce new and unfamiliar chemicals, cleaning solvents and materials into your home and leaves the house with the smells and shine to which you are accustomed. Housekeepers can recommend preferred cleaning supplies and will advise when re-supply is needed.

However, if you wish, housekeepers are fully prepared to provide their own complete set of cleaning supplies.
